Problems uploading photos

When you upload photos via any tutorial page, Practice Pic page or to the Indy Artwork Gallery, they should appear straight away on the respective page, plus in the Photos part of your profile, and also on the Latest Gallery Uploads page in the Community Hub.

If your photos are not appearing here, or you're having other difficulties uploading photos, check that you're doing everything recommended in the below list.

Note that if you upload photos via the Timeline part of your profile, they will not appear anywhere other than on your timeline. Unless a member is 'following' you, they will likely not notice photos uploaded to your Timeline.

Photo upload troubleshooting:

Doing all of the below should resolve any upload issues you have.

  • The maximum size a photo can be on the website is 3MB. The Nature Studio site should automatically re-size any larger photos that you upload to the correct size, but they do need to be in a JPEG or PNG format. If your images are not uploading, you can try to upload them a smaller size file. Tip: You can create smaller sized versions of photos on your phone by emailing them to yourself from your camera roll and selecting a smaller size. You can then save the emailed image to your camera roll and upload it to the Nature Studio from there.
  • Orientation - It's advisable to upload your images in Portrait rather than Landscape orientation, otherwise there's a chance that they will not appear the right way up in Nature Studio.
  • Rotation - it may be easier to upload from a PC or laptop rather than a mobile device. However, if you are uploading from an iPad or phone, make sure you rotate the image to be the right way up before uploading. The software our website uses doesn't presently have the function for photos to be rotated in the website after uploading.
  • Try from a different device - If you're having issues uploading images, it could be a problem with your device so if you're having difficulty uploading via a phone or iPad, it's worth also trying on a desktop PC or laptop and vice versa.
  • Device memory - You may have upload issues if you don't have enough memory on your device, or if you have poor internet / broadband i.e. if more than one person in the house is streaming videos online etc.
  • Browser - Our site works best in Chrome, and using Safari as your browser can interfere with your user experience, including affecting uploading photos. You can download the Chrome app for free and we recommend always using this for visiting the Nature Studio site.
  • Clear your browser's cache - It is also worth clearing your cache occasionally as your device or PC could be struggling with filtering out old information if there have been updates to the site etc. You can find out more about how to do that here. It only takes a few seconds to do and is easier than it sounds!
