How to use the Live Zoom Room

You can drop into the Zoom Room anytime to see which members are currently looking to co-create in the company of others.

To join the Zoom Room anytime:

1. Visit # Events Calendar in the Community Hub and find today on the calendar to check if there are any events planned. You can join any events that are happening, but checking the calendar first will help you to know what's happening if you join an in-progress session, or if lots of members suddenly join the room whilst you're in there and start speaking in a different language!

2. Click the 'Open Zoom Room' button:

3. A new window will pop open and you'll be prompted to launch the Zoom app if you have it. If you have the app and want to use it, you can click "open" and follow the prompts to join. If you don't have the Zoom app, you can click "cancel" and join via your browser as follows:

4. To join from your browser, scroll to the bottom of the page after you've hit "cancel" and click on the link that says "Join from Your Browser"

5. You'll then be taken to a screen where you're prompted to enter your name (you can use your @name) and select your camera and microphone settings. If you have trouble connecting your camera and microphone, you can find help with how to allow Zoom to access your camera and microphone here.

6. Once you're happy with your settings, you can hit 'Join' and you'll then be taken into the Zoom Room to see if anybody's there.

If you only see your own name, you're the only person in the room at that time. You can also see the number of people in the room and their names if you click on 'Participants' at the bottom of the screen.

If you drop into the Zoom Room and you're the only one there:

Why not hang out in the room for a while whilst you're working, to see if any other members drop in? You could mute your microphone, and either keep your camera on or off, but make sure your volume is turned up so you'll hear if someone joins you.

If you drop into the Zoom Room and see others are in the room when you join:

If there are lots of members, double-check the calendar to see if you're joining a scheduled session and if the organiser has described how the session will run.

If it looks like there are some other members in the room working quietly, don't be too shy to say hello: remember that other members are there to connect and create in your company.

You could pop your camera and microphone on and say something like "Hi it's Anna here, popping in to do some painting on my Freesia. What are you working on?" If nobody answers, don't worry, they might not have heard you. But you never know, you might find a great art buddy by reaching out in the Zoom Room.

General etiquette for using the Zoom Room:

Unless you're chatting to other members and have a need for using your microphone, it's best to mute yourself by clicking on the microphone icon (bottom left on desktop view).

It's also really nice to be able to see each other, so if you're in the Zoom Room, it'd be great if you could have your camera on. You could have it showing you or looking at the art you're producing.
