Quinacridone Violet (PV55)
Quinacridone Violet (Winsor & Newton) Pigment number: PV55 (Part of the Essential Range of 10 paints)
Quinacridone Violet (Quinacridone Purple by Daniel Smith) is a rich, powerful and juicy purple with a slight reddish cast. It’s non-granulating, so washes are smooth and controlled and it mixes beautifully. A luscious, versatile colour. Quinacridone watercolors flow beautifully for extremely smooth washes, have incredible depth of colour and can be lifted easily while still wet. They’re exceptionally strong yet transparent, ideal for glazing.
Notes
- W & N offered this pigment as a ‘Limited Edition’ in 2016 called Quinacridone Violet. As from May 2019, W & N has been adding this onto their main list of colours permanently.
- Anna used to use Bright Violet by Holbein as a dark purple in older tutorials - to match to that add a little Opera Rose to this PV55 paint.
