Permanent Sap Green

Permanent Sap Green (one of the Essential Range of the 10 most useful paints)

Pigment numbers: PG36 + PY110

Permanent Sap Green is a natural, rich, mid-range green with a yellow undertone. Anna uses this one a lot and often mixes it with Olive Green and that forms the basis of a lot of leaves she works on.

Recommended Substitutes

  • The Daniel Smith alternative is Hooker's Green (It's more blue than Winsor & Newton Permanent Sap Green so less will usually be required when mixing with Daniel Smith Sap Green).
  • It can be mixed from other paints in the Essential Range but requires 3 colours so is fiddly, and hence is well worth buying: 30% Winsor Green (Yellow Shade), 30% Burnt Sienna, 30% Winsor Yellow
