Cobalt Violet
Cobalt Violet
Pigment number: PV14.
The paint is a light pinkish-purple. The fact it is light makes it easier to handle in mixes than a much darker paint that it can be easy to over-do by using too much. It does tend to granulate.
Recommended Substitutes
- Mix approximately 30% W & N French Ultramarine with 70% W & N Opera Rose OR mix approximately 40% W & N Quinacridone Violet with 60% W & N Opera Rose. As these paints are all darker, with both of these mixes you'll need to water your mix down to a more watery consistency than you would need if using Cobalt Violet so as to achieve a similar tone.
- The Daniel Smith alternative is also called Cobalt Violet and is a good match.
