Permanent Alizarin Crimson
Permanent Alizarin Crimson
Pigment number: PR206
This is a dark red that's a little bit duller, so a little bit more brown and darker than Permanent Carmine when it dries. Therefore, it's a really useful paint for deepening and enriching other reds such as Scarlet Lake.
Recommended Substitutes
- Anna used to use Permanent Alizarin Crimson more than Permanent Carmine but more recently favours this Permanent Carmine as it's a little brighter. They are essentially interchangeable though so you can use this if you don't have Permanent Carmine and vice versa.
- The Daniel Smith alternative is Permanent Alizarin Crimson.
